Where Courage Is Revealed.

So, today I found my courage. It was sitting right where it always is.

Behind barn doors that swing back and forth in the Ohio winds, waiting to be rolled away by some curious little boy, waiting for the last of the white paint to chip off.

With imaginary farms that sit in the backyard, untouched in the cold. Besides being run over by Sadie, who likes to chase passer-byers in their cars from the corner to the bend-- and usually wins.

Mingling where sisters teach Spanish to the little ones and the Mexican Hat Dance to the big ones.

Where little brothers sleep in your bed so that you'll dance your fingertips along their face to put them to sleep.

Down in the pockets. The place where cold hands hide.

Falling with the snow, finding its place on my nose and eyelashes.....

It's in these spots my courage is found. My first home. I just hope it never leaves this place.
